The Alchemist Question #1

The Alchemist is full of "signs" that Santiago pays attention to for direction. Which of these signs do you think are the most life altering to his personal myth and why?

I don't have my book in front of me right now, but if I remember correctly, in the very beginning of the book Santiago's father supports his decision to become a shepherd. Even though Santiago has not learned to recognize omens quite yet, I think this was a sign that he was not meant to stay in one place and live an uneventful life. If it weren't for his father's support, he might have never made the first few steps of his journey in the first place.
