Question #5

I'm not a big candy eater. But by the end of the book I had consumed 5 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and an entire Pay Day bar. If I know Blair like I think I do, I bet she had a few pounds of semi-sweet chocolate chips. What was your diet like while reading?

My eating habits didn't really change, since I eat candy/chocolate pretty much everyday. And I don't think Adam's really changed either. But we are thinking about taking a day trip to Lake Champlain Chocolates in Burlington, Vermont (see chapter 5 pgs 91-93). His description of the Five Star fancy chocolates certainly perked our interests.

Yes, Hillery I ate chocolate chips by the handful while reading. And cake and cookies. But I am more of a general chocolate freak than a candy freak. And Marci, you better believe that I looked up where to buy those Five Star Bars in Oregon and last night I spent $3 on one at Whole Foods. It is about the size of a "Fun Size" candy bar, meaning it will be about a dollar a bite when consumed. I will let you know how it tastes and I REALLY want to hear about the factory when you visit.

After we read the book, Cassidy and I actually went out and bought a handful of candy bars that we had never tried and ate them while we watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Yes, the Five Star Bars sounded so scrumptious! Blair, you will have to report on them. I looked them up online and couldn't bring myself to pay that much for something so small.

A few of my favorites that James and I tried: the Idaho Spud (the first bite was actually kind of nasty, but then for some reason it starts tasting good); the U-NO, which is made by Annabelle I think and tasted kind of like a truffle; and the Chunky, which has peanuts and raisins (gross!) but was pretty delicious.

I'm sucking the Fruit and Nut Five Star bar out of my teeth right now. I figure each crack of my teeth has nickel's worth of candy bar in it. It 's probably worth the price. I generally don't like dark chocolate or fruit/chocolate mixtures (both of which this bar had) and it was really good. Blair is currently salivating over my shoulder as I type and is asking me when we are going to buy/try the other flavors. We may not be able to afford a house anymore if Blair has her way with these things. I highly recommend at least trying them.
